Tenet Supply Chain Event 2012

Tenet attended the NDA Estate Supplier Event held at the Reebok Stadium Bolton in November 2012. This annual event attracts many of the leading authorities and key decision makers within the nuclear industry, all under one roof to update the market place, network, collaborate and form new key and enhance existing business relationships. Tenet had an exhibition stand very close to the hub of the event and was visited by many new and existing customers. Over the period of the seven hours, many business opportunities were discussed and hopefully some of these will lead to orders in the coming months. Whilst representatives from the NDA and all of the Site Licence companies (SLCs) were present, there were also the top twenty Tier 2 suppliers from the NDA estate and also 93 other Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) who exhibited at this prestigious event, with over 700 delegates attending.

Throughout the day, eminent speakers from the NDA, SLCs and the supply chain held toolbox talks to engage the members of the audience which included senior Executives from the NDA, SLCs and the NDA Estate Supply Chain community. Tenet witnessed the launch of the “NDA Estate Supply Chain Awards”. The aim is that the NDA Estate Supply Chain Awards will be a prestigious recognition for those companies working in the nuclear decommissioning and clean-up market.

Tenet has been supporting cleanup operations at Sellafield in collaboration with the NDA, SLCs, Tier 2 suppliers and other SMEs, for many years now supplying its specialist CE&I Design Engineering consultancy services. Attending the event continues to raise the business profile of Tenet as a leading delivery partner in the healthy supply chain to the nuclear industry.

Tenet continues to grow its capability & experience to deliver engineering projects from conception to design hand over, with a right first time mentality and a clear focus on providing value engineering.

Nuclear experts secure expansion funding

03/04/2012

April 2012 – A Birchwood (Warrington) based engineering consultancy that provides specialist Control, Electrical and Instrument (CE&I) design services to the nuclear industry, has secured a six-figure finance package from NatWest to support its growth plans.

Tenet Consultants plans to use the funding to recruit additional engineers and designers after winning several new contracts and increasing the size of its order book by more than £1m.

The business, which currently employs 28 staff was formed in 2005 by Managing Director Mike Thirsk, following a 27-year career in the nuclear industry. Tenet is an established tier one supplier of specialist engineering design and substantiation services, specifically in relation to the decommissioning and maintenance of existing nuclear facilities

Tenet’s expertise ranges from undertaking CE&I engineering substantiation, preparation of the relevant regulatory documentation to preparing detailed CE&I engineering designs.  The company’s client base includes many multi-national companies involved in the nuclear supply chain, that operate sites, build new facilities and maintain existing plants.

Mike Thirsk, Tenet’s Managing Director, said: “The business has grown significantly in the last 12 months by providing a fast, quality driven response to our client’s needs.  For this to continue we have reached the point where we need to make a significant investment to increase headcount.  We are delighted to secure this funding as it will help to cover the initial increase in overheads.

NatWest commercial banking in Manchester provided the funding to Tenet Consultants.

John Howard, NatWest Relationship Manager, said; “Mike’s expertise in this sector has created a very strong business with an excellent customer base.  He has a clear strategy to grow Tenet and we are very pleased to have the opportunity to support his plans.”

North West Offshore Wind Supply Chain Event

10/02/2011

On Tuesday 8th February a networking event was held at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton to get members of the offshore wind energy supply chain together to discuss where the industry was heading & what opportunities were available through future developments. Hosted by Envirolink Northwest, presentations were held in the morning by representatives of The Crown Estate, the Department of Energy & Climate Change, Centrica & DONG Energy. The focus during these talks was very much on future projects & taking the industry through Round 3 of leasing agreements to 2020. Even though the risk to developers is still high in taking on these immense projects further out to sea & in deeper water, the rewards appear great, especially when backed up by renewable energy commitments, financial investments & Government incentives.

The afternoon was taken up with workshops focusing on specific areas of offshore wind farm development. Information from those organisations at the vanguard of the offshore wind generation industry was particularly enlightening in identifying potential weaknesses in the supply chain which could negatively impact on future developments & also where innovation was desperately required to bring efficiency savings to the process.

Tenet believes that the engineering design skill set which we employ to the benefit of our clients in the nuclear sector, has the potential to be transferred to other industries. The renewable energy market shows incredible potential for growth over the coming decades as the UK compensates for its reliance on imported energy sources, as well as meeting its commitments to reduce carbon emissions. Tenet are actively pursuing opportunities to diversify & offer our engineering design capability to the renewable energy supply chain.
